NSU marches for statute

KANCHANPUR, March 15: Nepal Students´ Union, the student wing of the Nepali Congress, has launched a tour from Gaddhachowki of Kanchanpur as part of the union´s Mechi-Mahakali march to create public pressure on the political parties and the Constituent Assembly to draft a new constitution on time.



Union´s former president Kalyan Gurung said the march will also spread message for religious tolerance and social unity, strong youth role in the Nepali Congress and an end to bandas and strikes for once and all to make the Nepal Tourism Year 2011 a success.



The union began the march simultaneously from Gaddhachowki in Kanchanpur and Kakarbhitta in Jhapa on Monday. The tours from Gaddhachowki and Kakarbhitta will meet in Chitwan on March 21 and end after holding a pressure meeting in front of the CA venue in Kathmandu on March 22.



There are 41 participants in the tour from Gaddhachowki. The team is led by former president of the union Kalyan Gurung. NSU general secretary Pratima Gautam and Manoj Mani Acharya are also in the team. The team in Kakarbhitta is led by NSU president Pradip Poudel.
