More than 2,000 people from Keraunja, Kasigaon, Sirdibas, Uhiya, Gumda, Lapu and Manbu VDCs in Gorakha district had gone to Manang for collecting Yarchagumba.
Those who have been murdered are Gyan Bahadur Gurung, Subadar Gurung, Bire Gurung, Aita Gurung, Dhruba Gurung and Kami Gurung from Silachet, Hulchuk and Dovan villages in Keraunja VDC.
Two others fell off the cliff while running away, police said quoting eye-witnesses.
Police have arrested six persons from Manang suspecting their involvement in the murder.
It is believed the incident took place on June 10 but was received only recently due to the remoteness of the area
A 35-member police team of the Gandaki Zonal Police Office has left for the incident site for gathering detailed information about the incident.
Earlier, it was reported that seven from Gorkha were missing in Manang.
