Udeshya ke linu, udi chhunu Chandra ek!
Laxmi Prasad Devkota in “Laxmi Nibandha Sangraha”[break]
Since my teenage years, I have been deeply inspired by Laxmi Prasad Devkota. Among all the works that I have read by him, this one line has been profoundly ingrained in my heart and mind. I came across this line during the young phase of my life when I was seeking a direction to make my life better. I used to have lots of questions about how and what I could do in life, and this line has always directed me well. It is through this line that I learnt to reach out for my dreams.
Everyone is in search of light, knowledge and emancipation in life. They move forward with a dream and an aim. In this line, Devkota is trying to impart an important message that we all should live by keeping our objectives and dreams as our first priority.
They shouldn’t dare to dream to even touch the moon. If they believe in their dreams, then that dream will pull them to it.
I really like this line and I have even applied this philosophy in my life. I never made anyone my role model but this line has directed me well and does so even now when I am lost and helpless.
Whenever I feel low and have not seen the best in things, I realize that I still have a dream to follow and that I shouldn’t let the meager problems of life bother me.
In my days, women didn’t practice much freedom and they suffered as they usually were confined to the four walls of the house. For them, their home was the whole world and they had to consider their husbands as God.
I considered that to be inhuman and I went against it. It is through my writing that I gave a voice to my emotions and thoughts. My poems were a bit rebellious but also with my fellow friends who had the same opinion like mine, we were able to revolt against the transgression of the society.
Even when my family tried to coax me into getting married at 18, I rebelled against it and came out successful. This is how this line has always influenced me to go ahead in life.

This book is all about positive thinking. It talks about how if we go on the right path everything will eventually turn out to be good. We should completely shun pessimism and should not complain about the petty problems of life.
People talk about building the nation but it should not be limited just to thoughts but should be turned into action as well. The book is all about creating positive vibes which is why I recommend everyone to read it.

Mindfulness in Plain English
by Bhante Gunaratana
To understand life and get inner peace, meditation is a great path. This book talks about meditation. It also talks about our common problems and how we can
overcome them. Life shouldn’t be looked just from the outside but it is important to delve into our inner self. We may have many roles in life and we may be known for what we are from the outside but it is important to understand what we are from the inside, our ambitions and the purpose of our life.
All this can be explored through mediation. The book also shows the different ways of meditating as well and has helped me a lot.
