The Nepali team, which landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport at 11:30 am, was received by National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Yubraj Lama, officials from Cricket Association Nepal (CAN) and a huge crowd of fans and sports enthusiasts. [break]
The reception also included music band and fans showering flowers and garlands on the cricket players.
Journalists scrambled to take the players´ photographs and receive words from them on their successful Malaysia tour.
Speaking to the media, Nepal´s Sri Lankan-born Canadian coach Pubudu Dassanayake said, "It was a complete performance [by the Nepali team]. All Nepali players performed their roles successfully."
Issuing a statement, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai lauded the national cricket team for enhancing Nepal´s image in international arena through the game of cricket.
In the statement, the PM has also announced that the government would ´honor´ the winning team for their performance.
Nepal won all its five league matches and defeated the USA in the final to clinch the title.
The successful cricketing tour also saw Nepal promoted to Division Three along with the USA in the six-nation tournament.
