The Chandigarh police said repeated efforts to get in touch with his family and the Nepal Embassy proved futile and the body was cremated as it had started to decompose.
The body of Man Bahadur, a Nepali national, who was serving a 10-year jail term, was lying unclaimed at a Sector 16 hospital for the last one month. He was arrested in 2003 by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The court had then awarded him 10 years in jail.
The convict died on February 12 this year in Government Medical College and Hospital due to brain hemorrhage. He was in his late fifties.
