Nepal win chess series

KATHMANDU, July31: Nepal won Nepal-Assam (Kamarupa Academy) friendly chess tournament held at Lagan on Friday. Hosts Nepal accumulated 47 out of 64 points to win the friendly chess series. However in the final day, it was Assam which had the upper hand in the game as Assam garnered 5.5 points while Nepal secured 2.5 points only. [break]



Mohit Jain, Prabhav Kumar Agrawal, Shuvam Jain, Siddanth Khemka and Abhinav Patawari registered wins for Assam. Bijaya Dangol and Prashant Thapa won for host side while match between Grishma Gautam and Devarshi Goswami ended in a draw.







Mohit defeated Aryan in 17, Prabhav beat Sajan Dulal in the 43rd move, Siddantha beat Niraj Pun in the 29th move and Abhinav defeated Jainish Thapa in 80 moves.

Bijaya defeated Jyotimai Goswami in the 47th move and Prashant Thapa beat Ruchit Chauhan in 45th move.



Nepal Chess Association president Ram Hari Joshi gave way certificates to the winners and participants of the tournament.
