Nepal to meet host UAE in opener

KATHMANDU, Aug 19: Nepal will face host UAE in the opening match of the ACC Elite Trophy. Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Sunday published the draw of the tournament to be held in the UAE from October 1 to 12.



Nepal is slated in the group B of the tournament along with the UAE, Hong Kong, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia while defending champion Afghanistan, Malaysia, Oman, Bhutan and the Maldives are in group A. Nepal was the runner-up of the last edition held in Kuwait in 2008.[break]



Nepal will take on the UAE on October 3, Kuwait on October 5, Saudi Arabia on October 7 and Hong Kong on October 9. The semifinals will be played on October 10 and the tournament´s final is scheduled for October 12.



Nepal will participate in the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 before playing the ACC Elite Trophy. The Division 4 tournament is scheduled to kick off in Malaysia from September 3. Top two teams of the Division 4, participated by Malaysia, Singapore, the USA, Denmark, Tanzania and Nepal, will be promoted to Division 3.
