Sabitra scores four as Nepal trounces Kyrgyzstan 8-2
KATHMANDU, Sept 19: Nepal fought back from 2-0 down to beat host Kyrgyzstan 4-2 in the second match of Group B in the AFC U-16 Championship Qualifiers on Friday.
The win over the host means Nepal just needs a draw against Oman in the last match on Sunday to secure its ticket for next year's final to be played in India. Nepal, which beat Jordan 2-1 in its opener, also topped the table with six points.
Dinesh Henjan scored twice, while Rejin Subba and Manish Karki added a goal each for Nepal.
Kyrgyzstan, which adopted attacking game, took the lead in the 29th minute with Borubaev Gulzhigit's goal at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium, Bishkek. Shigaibaev Emir doubled the tally through spot kick in 31th minute.
Although, being 2-0 down in the first half, Nepal staged a remarkable fight back in the second half scoring four goals.
Skipper Manish scored in the 55th minute to cut the deficit, while Rijan leveled the scores in the 67th minute.
Dinesh, who replaced PrezanTamang in the 51st minute, gave Nepal a 3-2 lead in the 73rd minute and added another in the 90+2 minutes to wrap up the match 4-2.
Kyrgyzstan was reduced to 10 men in the 86th minute after its skipper Melisbekov Azamat got straight red card.
The defeat means Kyrgyzstan got knocked out of the race for next year's final as it was earlier
beaten 2-0 by Oman on Wednesday.
