NC Prez picks six more CWC members

KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala on Saturday nominated additional six members in the party´s Central Working Committee (CWC).



According to NC Chief Secretary Basanta Kumar Gautam, Koirala nominated Dilli Ram Regmi of Salyan, Rajan Prasad Pant of Palpa, Keshav Kumar Budhathoki of Jhapa, Ram Chandra Tiwari of Mahottari, Laxmi Rai of Bhojpur and Mina Subba of Sunsari as CWC members as per the article 21 of the party´s statute. The NC CWC now has a total of 80 members.



As per the NC´s statute, an elected party president can nominate a total 21 members from among the party´s general convention representatives. Koirala has already nominated 11 members, including senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, as CWC members.



Altogether 64 CWC members, including president, general secretary and treasurer are directly elected from the party´s general convention.



Meanwhile, a meeting of the NC CWC has been called for March 3 to hold discussion on current political situation in the country. “The CWC meeting will dwell on political developments after the formation of the new government,” said Chief Secretary Gautam.
