Accusing the UCPN (Maoist) leaders of not implementing the past agreements, he claimed that the Maoists were yet again trying to cheat other parties in the name of CA revival.[break]
"Maoist leaders are the ones who offer the prime ministerial post to various leaders and political parties," Koirala told media persons in Baglung on Monday. "They can´t be trusted and we can´t agree on the proposal of CA revival with the Maoists unless they sincerely implement the past agreements."
He said that there is no any alternative to fresh elections adding that a recent convention of NC´s district leaders also mandated the party for the same.
"When UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal proposed to reinstate the CA, I only asked Dahal to give us grounds to trust him," he explained.
Koirala reiterated that political parties can agree neither on CA reinstatement nor on the fresh polls without forming a national consensus government. He argued that a new government had become essential because the present coalition had lost the trust of major political forces and other sections of the society.
He also informed that the NC was for fresh elections for parliament and referendum for major disputes in constitution writing.
