District presidents from across the country have already arrived in Kathmandu to take part in the national gathering that is set to determine the party´s future course of action.[break]
According to Nuwakot District Committee President Jagadish Narasingh KC, the district presidents will leave for Barhabise Monday morning. "There will be a motorcycle rally of some 1,000 participants from Koteshwor to Barhabise," KC said.
Apart from district presidents, the gathering will be attended by Central Working Committee (CWC) members of the party. The chiefs of all sister organizations of the party have been invited to the gathering as observers.
KC said the inaugural session of the gathering will be held from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at a local school in Barhabise. "Though the gathering has been called for two days, it may be extended by a day if the district presidents felt they did not get enough time for deliberations," said KC.
NC leaders said they expect some 10,000 party leaders and cadres to converge at the venue of the gathering to take part in the inaugural session.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the NC´s office bearers and some influential leaders held at the party office in Sanepa Sunday afternoon has set the agenda items for discussions at the national gathering.
NC´s newly-appointed spokesperson Dilendra Prasad Badu said the gathering will discuss in detail the current political situation in the aftermath of the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly (CA), constitutional vacuum persisting in the country and the positions and the steps NC should take to bail out the country from the current crises.
Badu said the party´s central leadership will listen to the organizational problems faced by district presidents at local level and their suggestions to address those problems. "Since we are implementing the new statute of the party, the district presidents will be asked to share the difficulties they have faced in course of implementing the party statute," he said.
Badu also said that the party leadership will appraise the district presidents about the current political crisis and NC´s positions on various issues and seek suggestions as to how should the NC move ahead in changed political context to play a leading role in the national politics yet again.
The NC had organized similar gathering of district president last year in Kavre. The first gathering had made a decision to hold the gathering of the district presidents every year to review party´s policies and forge new strategy to move ahead.
