“Those families who lost their members haven´t received compensation while the children of the victims have been deprived of education,” said Nandu Bista, the president of the Rukum chapter of Nepal Tarun Dal, the youth wing of NC, adding, “The activists of NC are still to get back their property seized during conflict.” He said the leaders are more concerned about position and power rather than the problems of their district level activists.
“The atrocities of the Maoist party are still same in remote areas. People still live under fear though the war is already over,” Bista said.
Many activists from various villages of Rukum and Rolpa took part in the gathering being held at headquarter of Rolpa, Liwang. NC leaders who participated in the convention could not be reached for comment immediately after it was over.
The gathering that commenced from Thursday is the first gathering after the district convention held last year. The gathering will review the activities of the party and come up with a one-year work plan.
