National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Hari Babu Chaudhary says that the NSC is determined to conduct the games on time but he himself is unsure weather it will kick off on the pre-set date. Chaudhary also said that the date of the games could be postponed by a month or two. [break]
When asked whether the formation of new government and the possibility of appointment of a new member sectary at the NSC would affect the national games, Chaudhary said that there would be no problem as the government has already committed to conduct the game.
The delay in releasing the budget has added to the uncertainty over holding the games on time. Chaudhary says that the government will release the budget within a day for the games that will help them to conduct the game.
Along with the development of physical infrastructure, organizing the games require Rs 110 million. Since nothing significant has been done towards building the infrastructure, the pre-set date for the event is likely to be pushed further.
The construction of wall and parapet around the ground of the Dhangadhi-based stadium has not been completed. Though the wall construction is partially completed, the construction of parapet has yet to start, according to a news report published by the RSS.
The appointment of the member secretary from the party leading the Youth and Sports Ministry will have a key role on the decision to hold the games. Chaudhary said that the change in leadership would not affect the games, as it is the biggest event of the nation. "We will urge the new sports minister to conduct the game at any cost even if there is a new appointment at the NSC," he said.
