More combatants released

CHITWAN, Jan 21: Altogether 622 disqualified Maoist combatants were released from the PLA fourth division cantonments at Jhyaltungdanda, Nawalparasi, Thursday.



Of the total, 198 were found recruited after the signing of Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) in November, 2006 and remaining 424 were found below 18 years of age at the time of UNMIN´s verification process. Maoist PLA said over 200 disqualified combatants from the cantonments are on leave.



So far 201 disqualified combatants have been released from the Second Division Cantonments in Dudhauli and 258 others from the Third Division Cantonments at Shaktikhor, Chitwan.



The disqualified combatants were released as per the agreement reached between the government, the Maoists and UNMIN to help take the ongoing peace process to a logical end.
