Police had found the body of Bindu Kumari Thakur, 18, in a field some 100 meters away from her house on December 27, 2012.

In course of its inspection, the eight-member committee discussed with the officers at District Police Office in Bara. Likewise, they also talked with the deceased father Rama Thakur. The committee also interrogated Geeta Devi, the mother of the deceased and other locals.

Police have kept Bindu´s husband in custody for further investigation.

Talking to media persons, Secretary Malla said it is difficult to say who is behind the crime as investigation into the incident is underway. “We will leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrator to the book,” he added.

The monitoring committee will also look into other incidents of gender-based violence across the country and submit a report to the government.
