Mollah's team win Pro-Am

KATHMANDU, April 13: Indian professional Raju Ali Mollah warmed up for the Surya Nepal Masters 2011 leading his team of Dorji Shepra, Kushi Ram Gurung and Prem Gurung to a fantastic win at the Standard Chartered Pro-Am at the Gokarna Forest Resort on Wednesday.



The winning team tallied 27 points after the match was reduced to nine holes due to heavy rains.[break]



The team of Gurbaaz Mann (professional), Niraj Pun, Adhiti Ghimire, and Michael Kollmair finished runners-up with 26 points on a count-back after a five-way tie for second place. Mollah´s brother Rafick combined with amateurs Rabin Rana and Kishan Agarwal to finish third.



More than 100 players teed off in the Pro-Am, played on a Team Scramble Format.



Sujit Mundul, the CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, LB Singh, the Vice President Marketing of Surya Nepal Private Limited and Vinod SJB Rana, the president of the Nepal Golf Association distributed prizes to the winners.



Meanwhile, some of the best talents from the SAARC region will be on display when a field of 102 players including 11 amateurs will tee off on Thursday for the Surya Nepal Masters 2011 title.



The event carries a record prize purse of Rs 4m and is co-sanctioned by the Nepal Professional Golfers Association and the Professional Golfers Association of India (PGTI).



Players including 30 Nepali professionals and 61 PGTI members representing India, Sri Lanka, Bangaldesh and UAE are participating in the tournament.
