In the early kick-off of the day, Bauddha Football Club humiliated hapless United Youth Club 3-0 as its foreign striker Eugene Gray scored hattrick.[break]
APF conceded all three goals in corners taken by Sujal Shrestha. MMC skipper Tashi Tsering scored the first goal in the 28th minute as he met corner off Shrestha and pushed it into the net.
Santosh Sahukhala, the highest paid Nepali player in domestic football, scored second for MMC in the 56th minute. He scored through header off Shrestha´s corner.
The MMC veteran Tsering stole the show again in the 70th minute. Bijay Gurung met the corner off Shrestha and Gurung set the ball for Tsering in the box to score with a powerful strike.
“They scored all the three goals in corner ball. Our boys could not check man to man during the corner and conceded goals,” said Janak Singh Tharu, assistant coach of APF.
APF made few good moves but could not score any. Ganesh Lawati missed from close range in the cross of Amir Shrestha in the 11th minute of the first half.
In the 56th minute of the match, Arjun Subba took the advantage of miscommunication between MMC defenders and shot in the target but goalkeeper Bishal Shrestha saved it.
Shrestha made fine save of Lawati´s shot in the 76th minute and again blocked Subba´s strike in rebound.
“Boys failed to communicate with each other and develop a support system on the field,” said Tharu.
MMC also wasted some chances of scoring. APF goalkeeper Sabin Regmi blocked Sahukhala´s strike in the half hour mark.
In the very first minute of the second half, Deepak Bhusal fed a superb ball to Sahukhala but the latter shot wide in the open after beating the APF custodian.
Likewise, Nirajan Khadka´s shot hit the pole in the 65th minute and Ganesh Khadka´s shot from acute angle hit the cross bar in the 86th minute.
“I´m satisfied with the way boys performed though we missed few scoring opportunity. Wide margin victory over a strong team is laudable,” said MMC coach Bal Gopal Maharjan.
“We had made few changes in the starting line-up and Shiva Shrestha as well as Ram Thapa played well in midfield. It is positive sign for the team,” added Maharjan.
MMC moved up to the third position in the league table with the win. It has seven points from three matches. APF hasn´t collected single point from the last three matches and are at the 16th position on the table.
Gray scores hat-trick
Eugene Gray scored hat-trick against United Youth Club to pull first victory for Bauddha Football Club in the league.
Gray scored the first goal in the last minute of the first half. Buddha Lama came to an overlap and crossed the ball to Gray, who met the net through a header.
Gray scored the second goal in the 55th minute with a sublime header from a cross off Khum Gurung.
Gray completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute. He scored from the box as United Youth´s goalkeeper Ajay Maharjan could not grab the ball in the shot off Uttam Gurung.
“We are improving with each match. We were under pressure until we scored the first goal but after that boys gained confidence and won the match,” said Bauddha coach Kiran Shrestha.
“The survival in the league is getting difficult for us and we are trying hard to recover,” said United Youth coach Roshan Dangal.
With the win, Bauddha has four points from three games and they are in the eighth position in the league table while United Youth has no points from three matches and is at the bottom of the table.
