BIRGUNJ, July 26: The extended meeting of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Republican (MJF-R) concluded here on Thursday with a five-point Birgunj declaration.

The plenum concluded that consensus was a must in order to address in a package the contentious issues of constitution-making, procedure and method to promulgate the new constitution, election and formation of consensus government. [break]

At a press conference organized by Madhesi Journalists Society Nepal to impart information on the party´s decisions, MJF-R acting Chairperson Raj Kishor Yadav said the meeting has come up with an idea of involving Madhes-based parties out of the current Unified Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) to show collective strength in the coming CA election.

The two-day meeting decided that the party would henceforth have no relation with then Chairperson Jay Prakash Prasad Gupta, who has been serving jail term on graft charges, Yadav said.

He further said that the meeting endorsed the party´s central committee meeting decision to expel then central members Nandan Kumar Dutta, Atmaram Prasad Saha, Surita Kumari Saha and Rajib Jha but to offer them opportunity to file complaint in the general convention.

On another note, he said, ´The MJF-R is effortful to provide equal rights and opportunities to people belonging to all indigenous nationalities, class, community and gender residing in Nepal´.

Leader Yadav made it clear that his party had envisioned building an equitable and prosperous new Nepal by liberating it from discrimination.

The party has cherished its goal to develop a society based on equity, non-discrimination and inclusion by averting all-pervasive economic, social and cultural discriminations in the country, he further clarified.

Yadav, who is also the Minister for Information and Communications, said that all sides should present themselves in a sensitive manner to maintain social harmony and strengthen nationality at a time when the country was passing through a serious transition.

´One should move ahead by respecting co-existence of another in course of building an equitable society´, he added.
