Mahika Rana clinches first career title

KATHMANDU, June 7: Mahika Rana clinched the first title of her career on Thursday. Rana defeated Ira Raut 6-3, 7-5, in the final of U-12 girl´s singles category during First Boris Lissanevitch Memorial Junior Open Tennis Tournament being held at Satdobato Tennis Court. Mahika´s twin sister Mayanka and Anne Mathema settled for joint third.



Samyak Bhusan Bajracharya claimed U-10 boy´s singles title defeating Aryan Subedi 6-1, 6-0, in the final. Bistrit Gurung and Aryan Giri finished third. Ira Raut claimed title in girl´s same category with double bagel to Alsa Regmi. [break]



National champion Aslesha Lissanevitch and Bibhuti Karki advanced into the final of U-16 girl´s singles. Lissanevitch edged past Manjita Nyach 6-0, 6-2, and Karki overcame Shrestha 6-3, 6-2.



Lissanevitch´s younger brother Ivanhoe defeated Avay Gauchan 6-0, 6-1, and Ashok Kunwar overpowered Sudarshan Sigdel 6-4, 6-2, to fix the final meeting in U-16 boy´s singles. Ivanhoe also advanced into U-18 boy´s singles category defeating Suman Karki 6-0, 6-1.



Bibhuti Karki and Mayanka Rana fixed title clash in U-14 girl´s single section. Karki ousted Anne Mathema 6-2, 6-0, and Rana toiled hard to beat Bijisha Shrestha 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (13-11).
