ARGHAKHACHI, Jan 5: Political parties, businessmen and locals in the district have been agitated after the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) began to cut power for six hours daily though the district was already declared a load-shedding free.

The locals vented ire against the NEA, saying the six-hour power cut every day was coordinated though the district was declared load-shedding free zone a year ago.[break]

Chairman of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the district Krishna Prasad Shrestha said it was a shameful act to cut power against the public announcement.

Normal life in the district was affected after the business activities were dwindled by the sudden increase on load-shedding hours, he added.

Leaders of seven political parties, UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist, Rastriya Janamorcha, CPN (Unified), and Janamukti Party, held a meeting in Sandhikharka, the district headquarters and warned of stern protest if the district was not made load shedding free within the mid January.
