Lissanevitch, Karki finish with two golds

KATHMANDU, Sept 1: U-16 singles champion Ivan Hoe Lissanevitch added another medal to his tally as he claimed the title of U-18 boy´s singles title on Saturday during the Sixth LA/JTI Inter-school Junior Open Tennis Championship held in the capital.



Lissanevitch of The British School cruised to a comfortable win over Ganesh Karki of National Training Center. Lissanevitch handed a double bagel to Karki. Earlier on Friday, Lissanevitch had edged past Yeoram Lee on Friday for the U-16 title. [break]



Girl´s singles title of U-18 age category went to Ganga Sharma of Pokhara. Sharma registered straight set win over Manjita Nyachhon of St Xavier´s 6-2, 6-0.



Meanwhile, Bibhuti Karki of St Xavier´s also finished with twin golds. Karki thumped Mahika Rana of Rupy´s International 6-1, 6-1 for second gold in the event. Earlier, Karki had claimed U-16 girl´s singles title defeating Manjita Nyachhon of her own school.



The team championship title went to host Little Angel´s (LA) which finished with a total of 63 points. St Xavier´s stood second with 51 points while Rato Bangala secured third position with 48 points.



Avaya Gauchan of Rato Bangala claimed gold in the U-14 boy´s singles category. Gauchan defeated his schoolmate Avash Malla 6-4, 7-5 in the final.



Samyak Bhusan Bajracharya of Shuvatara took home U-10 boy´s singles title. Bajracharya saw off Swaraj KC 8-5 for single´s title.



The winners were awarded by All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association President Manoj Rana, LA Principal Umesh Shrestha among other.



The six day long tournament featured 238 players including 143 boys and 95 girls from 32 schools of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Kaski for 14 gold medals.
