Politicians, top-level bureaucrats and business leaders also visited the expo.
The organizer said business worth Rs 12.5 million was recorded during the expo while the domestic products got a huge applaud from the visitors.
A total of 80 stalls of 50 different companies were showcased in the Rastriya Sabhagriha.
The organizer said that 50,000 pairs of shoes, slippers, sandals, bags and other leather items were sold in the expo.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony organized on Sunday, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Pashupati Murarka said the government should give subsidy in customs to increase the production of leather and footwear items.
Chairman of Leather and Footwear Producers´´ Association Homnath Upadhyay said that the goods kept in exhibition were highly qualitative and they were filled with encouragements from the participation of visitors.
He also pledged to make more qualitative products in the future as well.
The Nepali leather and footwear products have covered 50 per cent of total market though the total market size of footwear and leather items stands at Rs 1billion.
