Launch of new party by indigenous leaders postponed; Manifesto unveiled

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: Leaders and activists of indigenous communities could not announce the new party on Thursday as scheduled earlier. However, a proposed manifesto of the to-be-launched party has been made public amid a function in the capital today.



Earlier, they had set the date of August 9, also the International Day of Indigenous Peoples, to unveil a new party with its proposed name Social Democratice Pluri-National Party.[break]



A task-force formed under the coordination of Dr Chaitanya Subba to hold discussions and collect suggestions unveiled the party’s political manifesto.



It has been learnt that they failed to launch the new party today owing to differences among seniors indigenous leaders, including the chairman of Nepal Federation of the Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN).



They have said that the new party would be unveiled by the end of September this year.
