As many as 2.7 million people in the country have kidney related diseases while 270,000 people have their both kidney damaged.

Around 60 per cent of the kidney patients are said to live for some months while 90 per cent of them survive only for two years and 99 per cent of them die within five years if they do not undergo regular dialysis and treatment, said Director of the National Kidney Treatment Centre, Dr. Rishi Kumar Kafle.
