TANAHU, Feb 9: Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Paudel on Wednesday said that the Maoist-UML government would not last for long.

Paudel, who arrived in his home district after the election of UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal to the post of prime minister, said that the differences over sharing ministerial portfolios would not let the new government last for long. [break]

“The government formed unnaturally would not last for long. Search for an alternative government would begin soon,” he said.

Paudel argued that a new government based on consensus among all parties should be formed for peace and new constitution in the country. He also said that the seven-point deal between Maoist and UML is not acceptable to NC. “If the deal is acceptable to a particular leader of the NC it is his personal opinion,” he further said.

Paudel alleged that the deal between Maoist and UML was a conspiracy to thwart formation of a consensus government.
