"It is for the party to decide how it wants to exercise that power," Oli said when asked during a BBC interview what the standing committee would do if the prime minister exercises his prerogative and gives the home ministry to the Maoists.
He also categorically ruled out the possibility of his party awarding any security-related ministries to the Maoists. In an interview to BBC Nepali service Tuesday night, Oli said, "The home ministry cannot be given to the Maoists in the present context."
When asked if his party would accept if the Maoists proposed a UML candidate other than Bishnu Paudel as home minister, Oli said, "No one can be an alternative of Bishnu Paudel as home minister in the present context."
