Jigmay wins Druk Air Open

KATHMANDU, Dec 15: Bhutanese golfer Jigmay Dongstetsang won the Druk Air Open Golf Tournament at Gokarna Golf Club, Kathmandu on Saturday. Jigmay scored 36 stableford points to win the championship on the count back.



Tashi Ghale also brought in a card of 36 points and won the best gross award after scoring 34 gross points. [break]



Dr Niranjan Sharma finished runner-up in the tournament with the score of 35 stableford points.



Aarti Rana bagged the winner trophy of the ladies´ category with the score of 27 points. Kesang Lama finished runner-up in the ladies´ category. Choi Joo Sik was the best amongst the senior golfers--age 60 and above.



All the winners got Kathmandu-Paro-Kathmandu air tickets for a couple, along with 3-night accommodation with three rounds of Golf at Royal Thimpu Golf Club.



Meanwhile, Tashi Tshiring, Keith Harrison, and Rene Vijay Einhaus got the longest drive, the closest to the pin and the most birdies awards respectively. Rene shot five birdies.



DHI CEO and Royal Thimpu Golf Club President Dasho Tenzin Yonten, Yab Dhondup Gyaltsen and President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire gave away the prizes to the winners.



Altogether 104 golfers, including eight ladies, had participated in the tournament.
