He claimed that Singh and three accomplices had come to their house four times on October 5, 2009. Majid´s body was found with gunshot injuries in room No. 105 at the hotel. The four had never been seen again.
The Manihar family claims that Singh was sent to Nepalgunj by one Ibrar of Bahraich in India. Majid´s eldest son Vicky had been arrested by the Indian Special Task Force (STF) in September, 2009 for dealing in counterfeit Indian currency, family sources said. One Navi, an informer for STF, had come to the Manihar residence and taken Vicky away, they claim. They also claim that Navi got Vicky drunk and took him across the Indian border by taxi.
Ibrar had called Majid and promised to get Vicky released for a sum of Rs 50,000, and the four including Singh had then come to Nepalgunj to collect the money.
