Japanese cooperation to Patan children

KATHMANDU, Jan 25: The Government of Japan is to provide an economic assistance of Rs 4.99 million for improving the condition of the child laborers working in Patan area of Lalitpur and for guaranteeing child rights through a Japanese NGO.



The amount provided by the community of Sapla Neer city of Japan will be used for the welfare of the child workers in Nepal through the Child Rights Cooperation and Protection Center of Patan.



The sum will be made available for providing primary health and non-formal education for the child workers in Kathmandu and in Patan area of Lalitpur in view of the increasing exploitation of child laborers.



Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Tatsuo Mizuno and Sapla Neer Nepal, Nepal Representative Yukiko Fujisaki signed the agreement to this effect at a program organized at the Japanese Embassy on Monday.
