Jailbird claims being royal massacre witness

BIRGUNJ, Dec 25: A prisoner in Birgunj jail who is serving jail term on the charge of killing a couple in Kathmandu has claimed that he was an witness of the 2001 royal massacre that left all members of the family of then king Birendra dead.



The prisoner, Lal Bahadur Magar, also claimed that former crown price Paras was behind the killing of the family of the former king. Magar claimed that he was a bodyguard of then crown prince Dipendra when the massacre happened.



Magar said so when Maoist CA member Leela Kumar Baga went to the jail on Thursday to meet him. Magar claimed that Rajiv Shahi had helped Paras to carry out the massacre. He also claimed that former king Gyanendra also had a hand in the massacre.
