During the meeting, President Dr Yadav lauded Indian democratic exercise and expressed confidence that India would always extend her goodwill and support to Nepal. [break]
President Dr Yadav also said that exchange of such visit between lawmakers would help understand common concerns and problems of both the countries and find ways to address them.
In the afternoon, the Indian lawmakers met with Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the UCPN (Maoist) headquarters at Paris Danda, Kathmandu.
Indian ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood was also present during the meeting. This is the first time that Sood visited the Maoist party headquarters.
The Indian parliamentary delegation that arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday on a four-day visit to Nepal includes Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Biju Janta Dal, Bolangir (Orissa); O T Lepcha, Sikkim Democratic Front (Sikkim); Pradeep Majhi, Indian National Congress, Nabarangpur (Orissa); (Kamlesh Paswan, Bhartiya Janata Party, Bansgaon (Uttar Pradesh); Sanjay Jaiswal, Bhartiya Janata Party, Champaran (Bihar) and Niraj Shekhar, Samajwadi Party, Ballia (Uttar Pradesh).
The Indian parliamentarians are scheduled to hold meetings with leaders of various political parties.
