GOLBAZAAR, Aug 29: An illegal import of chemical fertilizer from Ladaniya, India is taking place here in connivance of police and smugglers.

It is revealed that chemical fertilizer smuggled from India has been hoarded at the Bariyarpatti-based warehouse and supplied to Dhangadhi, Zero Mile, Golbazaar and Mirchaiya.[break]

Smuggling of chemical fertilizer is taking place in connivance of the security personnel and traders, said one Rabindra Yadav of Bariyarpatti. Police itself escort the contraband to the border area, he said.

Police bar farmers from bringing in even a sack of chemical fertilizer from India, but are promoting its smuggling just for commission, he said.

Meanwhile, a team led by Police Superintendent of Police Rajesh Lal Karna raided three warehouses at Mirchaiya Bazaar and seized a large of quantity ( 268 sacks) of chemical fertilizers. According to SP Karna, police have also arrested two smugglers.

Admitting rampant import of illegal fertilizer from India, he said the security forces are committing to containing it. He, however, denied accusation that the security people here have hands in smuggling of chemical fertilizer.
