The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has registered Sushila Sharma in the list of disappeared after it it was established that the Maoists had taken her from her home on 5 December 2005.[break]
"We were informed that she went missing during the insurgency. Now that it has been established that the Maoists were involved in disappearing her, we have registered her in the list of disappeared after seven years," said Binod Koirala of the ICRC.
Khumlal Sharma, Sushila´s husband, informed that he had requested the activists and police to search for his wife.
"The Maoist had taken my wife from my house in the presence of Tara Prasad Paudel, then chairman of the VDC, Arjun, the Maoist area committee in-charge and Mina, the Maoist area committee member. We are not informed about her whereabouts," said Khumlal.
According to Khumlal, she was taken by the Maoists on the charge of having illicit relationship with Maoist cadres. He informed that the Maoist had set up their office at his home. He said said he did not see the wife at their home when he returned home from a visit to Mustang. According to him, his three children were in his brother´s home.
Sources said, a Maoist district level leader was suspended on the charge of having illicit relationship with Khumlal´s wife.
Khumlal, who earns his living by working as casual laborer, said he is facing difficulty raising his children in the absence of wife. He said he has so far not received any compensation distributed by the government for conflict victims.
