Hospital provides compensation to victim's family

TANAHUN, Aug 18: The Ratnahari Memorial Hospital at Damauli has decided to provide Rs. 800,000 as compensation to the family after a lactating mother and her child died while undergoing treatment Thursday morning.



This was agreed at a joint meeting of the relatives of the deceased, Hospital Management Committee officials and police administration at the District Police Office Friday. [break]



The family has received the body after the agreement on Friday evening.



Amrita BK living at Byas-11, a permanent resident of Syamgha VDC- 3 of Tanahu and her infant child had died during treatment.



Brother-in-law of the deceased, Deepak BK, said they just gave trouble by sending to Pokhara for additional treatment for the person already dead due to the negligence of the doctor.



The family had not agreed to receive the body demanding action on the doctor and proper compensation to the family. They agreed after agreement was made to provide Rs 25,000 immediately by the hospital as last rites expenses and the other amount later, said hospital manager Bijay Shrestha.



Deceased´s husband Bharat BK is in Saudi Arabia for foreign employment.
