The company with the investment of US$ 12 million and production capacity of 60 million liters a year, however, has decided to put off all its investment plan after its President was physically attacked two weeks ago.

Speaking at a press conference in the capital on Friday, Harry S Han, president of Himalayas Spring Water, said promoters and employees of the factory were attacked by a group of ´unknown people´ when they were about to start production after a long preparation.

“We have no choice but to postpone our investment and employment plan until we feel safe to return and do business here,” Han, who was injured in the attack, told media persons.

The company had already sent its samples to countries like Canada, India and South Korea among many others.

Han was attacked twice by unidentified people in the period of two weeks. Following the incident, all the Korean employees of the company have flown back home for special check up.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, vice president of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce (FNCCI), said the federation was serious about the issue and will do its best in protecting foreign investors in Nepal. He also warned that incidents like this could discourage foreign investments in the country.

Han also requested the government to ensure conducive environment for foreign investors to exploit investment opportunities in Nepal. He also assured that his team would be back to Nepal as soon as security issues are sorted out.
