High health alert in flood affected area in Nepalgunj

NEPALGUNJ, Aug. 9: Special health alert has been in place in seven VDCs and Nepalgunj municipality of Banke district, which have been at high risk of communicable diseases due to flood in the Rapti river five days ago.



Among the VDCs put on high health alert are Gangapur, Fattepur, Holiya, Betahani, Matahaiya, Kamdi and Bankatawa along with Nepalgunj municipality, according to In-charge of District Public Health Office Jeevan Kumar Malla.[break]



Health workers are mobilized with the arrangement of medications in every wards of the VDCs and municipality.



Preparation is being made to provide health services to locals keeping in mind the possible outbreak of diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid, Malaria, Dengue, Encephalitis, viral influenza and eye infection, said Malla.



Besides, the people health office has distributed water purifying tablets in the high alert areas and sprayed insecticides in waterlogged area.
