GPK stood for better Nepal, India ties: ex-BJP chief

KATHMANDU, March 22: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal held talks with former chairman of Bharatiya Janata Party Raj Nath Singh on Monday.



Singh who is in Nepal to offer his last homage to the late Girija Prasad Koirala discussed the political scenario of Nepal for around half an hour.



In a press statement issued by Bishnu Rijal, PM’s press advisor, Singh said that the country lost one of the prominent leaders of the South Asia who was always in the favor of strengthening the bilateral ties between Nepal and India.



He also expressed the wish that the political parties in Nepal would be able to reach consensus to end the protracted political deadlock so that the country would be able to get a new constitution in stipulated time.



In reply, the PM reiterated that the political consensus was a need of the moment and assured the Indian leader that he would not let any stone unturned for promulgating the new constitution in time and end the ongoing peace process to a logical conclusion.
