KATHMANDU, Aug 25: The ruling party UCPN (Maoist) spokesman Agni Prasad Sapkota has said the government will send ordinances to the president only after consensus among political parties. Talking to journalists at his party headquarters on Saturday, he also expressed the hopes that the political parties will agree on the ordinances.

"There is no alternative to consensus. So, the government will forward the ordinances with the consensus of the political parties," said Sapkota.

President Ram Baran Yadav had earlier rejected the government´s ordinaces.[break]

In a separate context, Sapkota also informed that the selection process of former Maoist combatants to Nepal Army directorate will start soon.

"The disputed issues of the age, education and trainings are almost settled," Sapkota said but did not elaborate.

Former PLA had boycotted the selection process following dispute over their educational qualification.

While the combatants had been demanding educational qualifications attained after the peace accord was signed be accepted, the Nepal Army stood by earlier accord to accept only those qualifications attained before the peace accord. There was also disagreement over the combatant´s age.
