The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has today said the decision was as per the prevailing laws and is intended just to systematise the facility provision.[break]
The decision was taken on the basis of certain criteria related to State perks and facilities to its high-profile people and it was just a revision of an ordinance related to the government facilities and security for its former officials that was issued on April 18.
According to the Office, the new ordinance that was issued on July 18 has the provision of providing the housing facility to the former prime minister or his/her family if he/she does not a residence in Kathmandu Valley.
Stating that its serious attention has been drawn towards concerns and worries being expressed in the media and at the public level about the government decision, the Office has urged all not to misinterpret the decision.
It may be noted that the July 18 ordinance has guaranteed facilities for housing, vehicle, security and fuel by the State to its former officials and dignitaries as well.
