Govt transfers 12 secretaries

KATHMANDU, Aug 9: In a major reshuffle in the bureaucracy following the appointment of the chief secretary, the caretaker government has transferred 12 secretaries and appointed five acting regional administrators.



A cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday transferred Secretary at the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation Nabin Kumar Ghimire to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ganesh Raj Joshi to the Ministry of Agriculture, Secretary at the Agriculture Ministry Nathu Prasad Chaudhari to the Public Service Commission and Secretary at the Defense Ministry Madhav Regmi to the Prime Minister´s Office.[break]



According to Information and Communications Minister Rakish Yadav, Secretary at the Ministry of General Administration Dharnidhar Khatiwada has been transferred to the Prime Minister´s Office, Regional Administrator at the Regional Administration Office in Dhankuta Krishna Chandra Poudel to the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation, Secretary at the Public Procurement and Monitoring Office Yagya Prasad Gautam to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and Regional Administrator at the Regional Administration Office in Hetauda Tilak Ram Sharma to the Ministry of Defense.



Also, the government has transferred Acting Regional Administrator at the Regional Administration Office in Surkhet Gyan Darshan Udas to the Election Commission and Acting Regional Administrator at the Regional Administration Office in Dipayal Durga Nidhi Sharma to the Ministry of General Administration.



The government has appointed Surya Silwal as Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications and Dhan Bahadur Tamang as Secretary at the Public Procurement and Monitoring Office.



Hari Dahal has been appointed Acting Regional Administrator for the Far Western Region, Ramesh Bista for the Central Region, Narayan Gopal Malegu for the Western Region, Phulgen Pradhan for the Mid-Western Region and Rana Bahadur Shrestha for the Eastern Region.



Similarly, the government has decided to bring about equality in the rations issued to the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force. "There was inequality in rations given to the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force; this will be integrated in a scientific manner," said Yadav, who is also government spokesperson.



The cabinet meeting also decided to bar women under the age of 30 from going for employment in the Gulf countries. Likewise, the cabinet meeting decided to give continuity to Karma Sangbo Sherpa as Vice-chairman of the Lumbini Development Fund.



The cabinet has also decided to go to the aid of 20 Nepalese workers currently stranded in Madagascar.
