A group of government lawyers on Tuesday handed over a memorandum to Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi, who is also the chairman of the JC, to address their demands.

According to the memorandum, only five government lawyers were appointed as judges at the appellate courts from 1994 to 2010. Similarly, only 33 lawyers were appointed as judges at the district courts during the period.
"Conscience and justice have not been applied while making appointment of judges who are responsible to deliver justice," reads the memorandum.
Saying that they are also the party of judiciary, government lawyers have demanded that the JC treat them equally.
They have argued that they should also be given priority in appointment of judges as they have already undergone of competency tests.
According to the lawyers, the Chief Justice has assured them to take their concerns into consideration.
The JC is likely to appoint main judges and judges at the district courts and appellate courts within a couple of days.
