KATHMANDU, June 17: The Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) has formed a four-member committee to study and investigate the equipment and technology procurement processes carried out by Nepal Television (NTV).
According to the MoIC, a four-member probe committee was formed under the coordination of Sudip Bhattarai on Monday, citing growing complaints and grievances in this matter. The committee, which has been mandated to submit a report with suggestions to the ministry within 21 days, will investigate the procurement of various equipment, software and digital systems carried out by the public service broadcasting organization in different time periods.

The investigation committee has been given a mandate to conduct a detailed study on the graphics system, new media (digital platform) service, audio/video equipment, digital transmitter and ‘playout automation system’ purchased for Itahari channel purchased by the NTV.
Questions have been raised over the past few years regarding transparency and adherence to legal procedures regarding various procurement processes undertaken by the NTV for the modernization of technology and broadcasting systems. Earlier, the MoIC had also formed a committee to investigate the satellite procurement issue of the public service broadcasting organization.
