Govt approves $185 million loan from World Bank and Asian Development Bank

A cabinet meeting on Monday endorsed the proposal to secure loans from major donor agencies under the Digital Nepal Transformation project. Under this plan, the government will receive $50 million from the World Bank and $40 million from the Asian Development Bank, totaling $90 million, for improving Nepal’s digital systems and making government services technology-friendly.

KATHMANDU, April 5: The government has approved foreign loans totaling $185 million (around Rs 27.5 billion) to strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure and support sustainable development.



A cabinet meeting on Monday endorsed the proposal to secure loans from major donor agencies under the Digital Nepal Transformation project. Under this plan, the government will receive $50 million from the World Bank and $40 million from the Asian Development Bank, totaling $90 million, for improving Nepal’s digital systems and making government services technology-friendly.

Additionally, the cabinet meeting approved $95 million in concessional loans from the World Bank for the Sustainable and Inclusive Development Project, aimed at promoting environmental balance, social inclusion, and long-term development goals in Nepal.
