Hopes are, as usual, high. After all, this is the only regional event where Nepal is a powerhouse in some of the events.
However, the players, who should have been concentrating in the training, are forced to spend time requesting the authorities for better training arrangements and facilities.

Even worse, nation’s apex sports body National Sports Council and the Ministry for Youth and Sports are busy getting through internal problems.
On Thursday, the NSC held an inconclusive talk with the Contract Employee Struggle Committee who has demanded to give job continuity to 86 sacked contract employees.
At the ministry at Sabdobato, a delegation led by Nepal National and International Players Association (NNIPA) president Deepak Bista met with Minister Gopal Tiwari Nepali and NSC member secretary Hari Babu Chaudhary demanding increment in the training facilities. At present, each player in the closed-camp training is getting Rs. 100 per day for diet.

“The diet allowance is insufficient for players training twice a day,” three-time SAG gold medalist Bista said. “With that facility, to win a gold medal is a daydream.”
Bista said the allowance should be increased by three-fold immediately.
Earlier, the NSC has said that it would increase the cost of diet for trainee soon after the completion of first phase. Though the first phase training concluded on October 3, there has not been any increment.
“They say they will increase the diet allowance later,” Bista added. “But increasing it in the 11th hour will be of no use.”
