Kids of Brija Lal Chaudhary -- Dip Narayan, 5, and Geeta Mala, 7; daughter of Chhatu Das -- Anisha Kumari Das, 7; and son of Parmeshwar Das -- Raj Kumar, 5, had been missing since Thursday afternoon and were thought to have been abducted.
The police and the locals had launched extensive search to find the kids but to no avail. Their decomposed bodies were located when a man who had gone to respond nature´s call Sunday morning smelt stench coming out of the pit. Police said the kids might have got buried in the sand while playing inside the pit.
The whole village, shocked since the disappearance of the children, was in mourning on Sunday. “After the death of his two kids, Brija Lal is left with a daughter now,” Ashok Chaudhary, a local, said. “The couple has been inconsolable and their health has been deteriorating.”
Raj Kumar Das and Anisha Kumari Das, both first graders at Shree Bito Mahato Janata Secondary School, had not gone to school and stayed back home on the fateful day to collect mangoes and litchis that had fallen after the storm on Wednesday night.
“They had apparently entered the pit after collecting fruits,” Chaudhary said. The children were cremated together in Sisaniya Sunday afternoon.
