FNJ publishes election program

KATHMANDU, April 17: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) on Sunday made public its election programme for the new leadership through its upcoming 23rd general convention scheduled for May 3 and 4.



As per the election program, the publication of voters´ list and registration of the candidates shall begin from April 25.[break]



The election process has been initiated earlier than the convention this year so that the issues like rights of journalists raised in the closed session of the convention is discussed thoroughly.



Organizing a press meet on Sunday, the central election committee of the FNJ informed media persons that the first list of voters will be published on April 25 while those fielding themselves as candidates for various post including the Chairman of the Federation can register their candidacies on April 30.



On the occasion, election committee member and advocate Ramesh Badal said the final list of the candidates will be published on May 2 after the filing of claim and protest and withdrawal of candidacy.



Similarly, the objection can be filed on voter´s list on April 25 while final voters´ list will be published on April 28 following investigation into the complaints received.



At the press meet, FNJ Chairman Dharmendra Jha urged all to make the upcoming FNJ general convention a grand success.



He said the election process this year was initiated a bit earlier for the comprehensive discussion of the issues to be raised in the convention.



Some 1,250 council members from the district, agencies and associates chapters will participate in the convention. A morning rally will be organized on the inaugural day of the convention.



The general convention is being held in Kathmandu at Nepal Academy with the slogan of ´Peace, Cosensus and Constitution: FNJ´s Campaign´.
