FNJ General Convention on May 3-4

KATHMANDU, April 13: The Central Committee meeting of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) on Wednesday decided to hold its 23rd general convention on May 3 and 4 in Kathmandu.



The meeting has formed a main organizing committee comprising 82 members headed by the FNJ incumbent President Dharmendra Jha. [break]



FNJ Central Committee members, advisors, presidents of FNJ branches and associates are in the main organizing committee. The meeting has also formed eight different subcommittees for the general convention.



The subcommittees include shelter and foods, monitoring, welcome, stage management, program and publicity, report and draft, finance, publication and volunteer mobilization.



“The meeting has expressed serious concern regarding the poor implementation of Working Journalist Act,” states the press release issued by FNJ, adding, “The meeting has agreed to push for setting 10,000 rupees as minimum salary for working journalists.”



The meeting also decided to honor FNJ former President Taranath Dahal and journalists Krishana Bahadur Karki and Kuwarkanta Jha with press freedom fighter award.
