FNCCI delegation meets Regmi

KATHMANDU, April 24: Expressing grave concern over frequent attacks on businessmen, officials of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) have submitted a memorandum to Chairman of Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi.



The FNCCI delegation led by its president Suraj Vaidya demanded that the government control such unlawful activities. [break]



FNCCI vice presidents Pashupati Murarka, Bhawani Rana and Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar were also in the delegation.



The business leaders drew the government attention a day after an attack on Murarka´s vehicle on Tuesday by an unidentified group.

“The government has assured us that it would take strong action against such acts,” Bidur Lamichhane, an official of FNCCI, said. According to Lamichhane, Regmi has assured that he would call a meeting of security officials and take a concrete decision soon.



"The government is serious about enforcing law and order situation in the country,” Regmi told the FNCCI delegation according to Lamichhane.



Meanwhile, Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has condemned the attack on Murarka´s vehicle. “CNI expresses its grave concern over the attack on Murarka," reads the release. "Such activities will hamper industrial confidence."
