Sushank Adhikari was kidnapped at around 4 pm even as father Narayan Prasad was at the agrovet store run in the front part of the house near the Nepalgunj-Kohalpur road.[break]
Sushank´s mother had left for the neighboring village of Pipri at around 3:30 in the afternoon asking her husband to look after their son and the shop. Sushank´s 12-year-old elder brother was inside the house when the former was taken away by the kidnappers. The parents are in a semi-conscious state after the incident.
"The situation has worsened to such an extent that kids are being kidnapped from in front of one´s eyes in broad daylight. We can´t figure out when and how he was kidnapped while he was playing," said a relative.
Sushank had just passed nursery this session and the family was preparing to get him enrolled in lower kindergarten. The family said a man had called at midnight at three Thursday morning saying the boy was safe but there has been no ransom demand till Thursday evening.
Police have yet to get any lead in the abduction. Police inspector at Area Police Office, Kohalpur Rupesh Rawal said a person well-acquainted with the family may have kidnapped the child. Chief of Banke Police Mahesh Bikram Shah said police have been mobilized in large numbers after news of the boy´s abduction but there has not been expected success due to lack of adequate resources.
Two school boys were brutally murdered after abduction last October while a 22-year-old youth was also killed after being kidnapped two months ago.
