With mercury rising, traders have introduced fans from different brands like Sanyo, Mistral, Victor, Fuji, Force, LG and Samsung among others. At present, three types of fans - ceiling, table and wall-mount - are available in the market.[break]
“Demand for fans increase during summer. When demand rises, it is obvious for the price to rise,” said Shreeram Thapaliya, sales manager of Jumbo Electronics, New road. “Prices of fans have increased not only Nepal but also in the international market.”
Jumbo Electronics is selling fans by different brands like Evernaol-chi, Sanyo, Victor and Mistral.

“Price depends on brands and materials used. There are basically two types of fans - fans with plastic blades and fans with metal blades,” added Thapaliya.
Evernaol-chi fans are priced between Rs 3,500 and Rs 3,800. Similarly, Sanyo fans cost in range of Rs 4,500 to Rs 7,000 and Victor fans are priced between Rs 3,000 and Rs 6,000. Price of Mistral fans range from Rs 3,500 to Rs 8,000.
Traders, however, said sales of fans have increased despite rise in prices. “When mercury rises, people buy fans regardless of the prices,” said Manoj Sharma of Namaste Electronics, New Road.
Namaste Electronics is presently selling fans by Force and Fuji. “Force fans are priced between Rs 2,500 and Rs 4,500 while Fuji fans cost in range of Rs 8,500 to Rs 10,500,” added Sharma.
Both Jumbo Electronics and Namaste Electronics are offering 10 percent discount on all models of fans.
Nepali traders imports fans from countries like China, Malaysia, Korea and India.
